Is a high BBA for a pitcher good?

BAA stands for batting average against; it shows the collective batting average of the people who faced that pitcher. Really outstanding pitchers should have a BAA of around .200 or less. Anything over about .280 indicates the pitcher allows too many hits. It is the reverse of a hitter's batting average. If the average major league player bats around .260, you want your pitcher to allow an average against him that is less than that average.
