Is it cheaper to have a dj or rent a soundsystem and lights?

For my sweet 16 I am having a rave themed party. I have a list of songs I want to play there but what I was wondering is it cheaper to have a dj come with his lights and sound system or to rent my own and hook my ipod up to it?????
