Moms How do you travel with your kids?

we recently flew on jet blue and they let us check the car seat, base and stroller at the gate, for free. i chose our big travel system because of this--baby rode in car seat attached to stroller. it was very convenient except at security when you have to empty liquids out of the diaper bag, put the car seat thru the xray, fold up the stroller and put it thru the xray, take your shoes and baby's off--but i did it on my own, while fighting a flu/stomach bug! security were jerks and wouldn't let hubby stay behind to help. i would think it would also depend on what gear you need once you reach yoru destination.
